Social Media and Not-for-Profits

Great article in The eMarketer Daily today about the number of not for profit organizations that are using Social Media to bring their case to the market.  The study covers the growth from 2007 to 2009.  The not for profit organizations have out-paced the adoption of Social Media by for-profit enterprises by a considerable measure.  Once again common sense prevails with social media and not-for-profits, focusing on individuals with a personal appeal for support.  Perfect for social media and the mindset of people when they are spending some downtime with Facebook and Twitter doing personal things.

I am pretty sure the study will show improvement in the for-profit group as they become more aware of the opportunity and continue to shift marketing dollars to online venues.   Interesting stuff.  People would not move to social media in large numbers if it didn’t work.
